Episode 5 – The Power Of The Law Of Attraction
Hi and welcome to the show, there is a powerful force out there that surrounds all of us, it affects us in such a positive way if we only used it to our advantage. From now on you can use it to positively impact your future on this planet.
I’m talking about the Law of Attraction.
We didn’t know it existed until the movie “The Secret” came out in 2006 and released this knowledge for all the world to see. It was released by Rhonda Byrne an Australian Producer who was given a book by her daughter to read. She knew she had to get this information out there, so from there she began researching people in history and in the present that know and use the secret in their daily lives. She actually used the secrets of the law of attraction to have the movie come to life.
I will be discussing all the behaviours required for harnessing its power in this and future episodes, such as repeating affirmations and creating a vision board.
Now that the Secret and the law of attraction is now so much part of our culture, I want to take you through what it actually is and how it works and most importantly how you can use it and reshape how you want to create the results you are seeking.
In it’s most basic form what the Law of Attraction states is this:
What you think about, what you talk about, what you feel strongly about, and have an intense feeling about, you will bring about. Things will naturally gravitate towards you because of these feelings. Some of the greatest minds and spiritual leaders in history were saying phrases back then, that people didn’t realise the context of what they were saying.
Winston Churchill said, “THE EMPIRES OF THE FUTURE ARE THE EMPIRES OF THE MIND.”
The great thinkers of our time knew the power of our thoughts and how they have great power over our lives. From having control over what we have to creating our vast experiences, even to impacting and determining our place in the world. But how can mere thoughts control so many areas of our lives?
BECAUSE OUR THOUGHTS ARE FULL OF ENERGY
Everything in our universe is made up of energy. Now I’m not here to give you a science lesson but needless to say, we are all a bundle of energy cells walking around. Physical and non-physical objects are also made up of energy. Basic chemistry told us that a building, a tree or a table are all made up of billions of individual atoms. I wish I had have taken more notice in science lessons, I used to fall asleep!
So the non-physical – such as our thoughts are also made up of energy, so what happens is that the two worlds collide. Our thoughts can bond and interact with our physical world. Our brain waves (literally our thoughts) form an intense energy force and these thoughts can easily be detected by medical equipment.
So what do I mean by interacting with our physical world?
Have you ever been sitting in your car at a stop sign and feel like someone is looking at you only to turn around and someone has been staring at you the whole time, or it is someone you know? Or maybe you were thinking about someone you haven’t heard from in a while and suddenly they text or ring you? Or have you ever thought about something you want to buy and your friend happens to mention that same item the next day? That’s your brain waves interacting with your physical reality. If you have intense thoughts about something in particular and you do this consistently say for several months and this situation is realised, this was caused because your thoughts and desires impacted your experience.
Albert Einstein said, the world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking. Now I’m not going to get too deep into quantum physics but Albert Einstein experimented with quantum mechanics which was the idea that creating an energy particle on one side of the universe created an instantaneous response (or shall I say partner) particle somewhere else in the universe. So basically there is a connection between two particles that can exist even if they are on the opposite side of the universe.
WE ARE IN A CONSTANT STATE OF VIBRATION
While The Secret and The Law of Attraction has had its fair share of critics over the years, I think we are all beginning to understand the power of our thoughts and that they merge with our physical environment and as such can activate responses from the universe of whatever we are thinking.
We are in a constant state of vibration and the law of attraction relies on that. The earth and everything on it including you is vibrating at a specific frequency unique to that object. So from the smallest atomic particle to the largest building, everything that was ever created is in a constant state of vibration, it is in motion constantly.
In the movie “The Secret” they focused on the power of intention, such as a deliberate thought. It stated that it was a three-step process: ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE. However, I am going to add a further process I believe will make things manifest easier and faster. The other word is ACT, so my process is to ASK, BELIEVE, ACT, RECEIVE. I believe that you must ask for what you want, believe that it will manifest, and believe you deserve it, but I believe that you need to take action by taking steps to achieve what you want to achieve, then you will be in a position to receive. With the law of attraction, the word action is part of the word attraction and so it stands to reason that you need to make some effort and take steps to get what you want.
You need to become more deliberate in your thinking and what you are feeling because the universe states that you’ll attract into your life whatever you give your energy, focus, and attention to. Whether it’s wanted or unwanted. Each thought or feeling comes with a vibrational frequency to which the universe responds to. So whatever you are focusing on whether it be positive or negative it thinks oh this person wants more of that. OK, I’ll provide it. Its concern is not whether it is good or bad it just responds to your vibrational frequency. The problem is that you are not aware of your responses and the vibration you are emitting. You are simply responding to your environment, the news, the stock market, the fees you’ve been charged, how much money you make, how the children are progressing at school, how people are treating you, and when your team wins or loses. You respond by being positive or negative. Now, what happens is that you are subconsciously reacting to everything around you while not thinking with the intention of what you view your future as this is why you get stuck in your current condition. Nothing will change unless you do. This is why people’s life never seems to change, you will get stuck in the same situation re-creating the same thing over and over again because the universe responds faithfully to the negative vibrations of those negative thoughts that you are sending out. If you give out positive thoughts instead like happiness, gratefulness, peacefulness, relaxation, abundance, love, joy, passion, and enthusiasm you will get more of that. Consider the opposite types of thoughts, like hurt, angry, resentful, guilty, disappointed, annoyed, depressed, frustrated, sad, confused, you will get more of that because the universe things oh, that’s what John wants ok, I’ll give him more.
So be more intentional about how you say and think thoughts. Don’t say “I want to get out of debt” say instead, “I am living an abundant life full of wealth and happiness. See how that would make you feel so good, it has to be a feel-good word or phrase. It needs to keep you in a positive state of thought.
It’s time to replace the negative images and thoughts with positive ones. Throughout our day we all see things we don’t want, so make a conscious decision to not think about them, talk about them, write about them, or even joining groups that focus on them, because all you’re gonna do is attract more of that. Take action to shift your thinking. Remember Civil Rights Leader, Martin Luther King’s speech? It wasn’t titled “I have a complaint” was it, it was “I have a dream”. Mother Teresa didn’t participate in anti-war demonstrations, why? Because by going against something, to focus your opposition to that situation will just create more of it. She said, if you have a pro-peace rally I’ll be there.
As I’ve said in a previous episode you need to believe that it is coming to you and then take action to get it. What does this mean? Go about your day in the absolute positive expectancy that what you want is coming. You know that you have put your hands in the power that is much greater than yours.
Carl Jung once said, “UNTIL YOU MAKE THE UNCONSCIOUS CONSCIOUS, IT WILL DIRECT YOUR LIFE AND YOU WILL CALL IT FATE.”
TAKE INSPIRED ACTION
You also need to know when to take “inspired” action. What I mean by inspired is simply this, whatever appears, your job is to recognise the opportunities that appear, then act quickly because with these opportunities comes a certain amount of energy that is focused in your favour.
These are actions you will take when you receive inner guidance, you may receive a hit of intuition, a hunch maybe or a gut feeling. Such as “I don’t know why but I have this sudden urge to ring my brother” or it might be “I’m feeling a strong need to attend a certain conference”. A great idea is to keep a pen and paper always handy in these instances to capture those thoughts and ideas as well as the energy that comes with them.
It’s great to have those positive thoughts, but if you don’t take action appropriately you may lose that energy of what was about to manifest for you. And remember, you don’t have to see the whole plan, just take that step and watch the world unfold as other action steps will appear in front of you.
Once you receive what you want you must become a vibrational match for it. So one way to do that is to use affirmations to create that match to ensure you are in alignment with what you want.
If you are not familiar with an affirmation, an affirmation is a statement of your goal or desire stated in the present time, as if the goal has already been achieved. These are statements you can write down and read them out loud repeatedly to trick your subconscious mind into thinking they have already been achieved. But you must feel those feelings you would feel if you had achieved that goal, think those thoughts, see those images, imagine those experiences, and how you would feel if your goal was already complete.
I’ll give you some examples: I am so happy and grateful that I live in a 5,000 square foot oceanfront home on Sydney Harbour. Or I’m so happy and grateful that I am effortlessly depositing $20,000 a month into my bank account.
As you do this, you actually keep yourself in that heightened state of joy to keep you at that level to maintain that vibrational match of what you want. Any bad feelings that you don’t have what you want, keeps you out of that vibrational alignment and that’s why it is impossible to receive or allow something into your life that you want, if you are bitter, blaming or being judgemental, these feelings are actually pushing away what you want.
THE POWER OF APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE
If you want to quickly manifest your goals there are two very powerful feelings you can use and they are appreciation and gratitude. If you think about it, if you had whatever it is you want, you would feel both of these feelings because of what you have received. It’s a wonderful way to attract more of what you want. So making this a daily discipline, spend five to ten minutes a day to appreciate all you have and everything around you, a great way to do it is start a journal of your thoughts of everything that you are grateful for, this is really powerful and it is how I started using the universe to work for me.
Another way is to practice gratitude and appreciation via meditation. I have an exercise I do in my longer workshops where I send my participants outside of the training room to what I call a “silent journey”. I send them out to focus on their environment and all the things that are serving them, to hold their attention on a certain item and think about how wonderful it is, or how useful it is, and to continue observing until they feel their appreciation expanding. They might appreciate or a grateful for a particular plant, but I tell them to not only appreciate the plant but the person who is currently watering it, the person who made the pot, the person who put the soil in the pot, the person who delivered the plant, the person who planted the seed. My participants always return feeling much happier, they all have smiles on their faces, and can’t wait to tell everyone of their experience.
After listening to this episode, or maybe you may want to pause it now to do the “silent journey”. I would like you to notice how it makes you feel and notice how differently you see the things around you. Once you develop this practice, you will continually look for things to appreciate in your life. You can use this in finding the good in people, rather than focusing on what you don’t like about them, it’s amazing how your relationship with them will change.
